Lectio Divina and the Lectionary

Lectio Divina essentially means “divine reading.” It is a way of approaching scripture devotionally.

Explore the following site about the Lectio Divina and make sure to download and read the brochure:

The lectionary is a plan for reading through the Bible that the Daily Office is based on.

There are many good resources online for lectionary readings.  Here are a couple of my favorites.

For a very easy-to-use daily office site, I really like this one. Click on the link below and put the things you learned in the lectio divina pamphlet into practice. Journal about your impressions.

You will see a lot of links. Click on the image at the top of the page. This will take you to the current office. There are two for each day, a morning and an evening.

Using the guidelines for the “Lectio Divina,” read the lectionary reading for the day and journal about your experience. As you do, remember that you are reading the same text that Christians all around the world are ready as well.
