Describe moments in your life when you came into contact with inexplicable evil. It may or may not be something that actually happened to you. Rather, these are moments where the question of evil and suffering became real to you.
How has the evil and suffering you have experienced in life affected you in negative ways. How has it shaped you in a positive way?
Identify the baggage you need to leave behind at the cross. As Jesus explained in the Sermon on the Mount, murder isn’t just taking a life, it begins with unfettered anger and words. To keep from becoming a murderer, one must figure out what is causing the anger. So as you think about your areas of weaknesses, delve behind that actions to flesh out what’s really causing the brokenness. If you are having trouble identifying this, you may want to talk it over with your spiritual director, or a friend who knows you well, or even a counselor.
