The Art of Listening

This exercise is going to be a little more involved. Think of someone who you really enjoy being with. Your son or daughter, your spouse, a friend, your mom or dad. Plan to meet with them for an hour or two at a coffee shop or in a park, and just talk. Except, you do most of the listening. Notice their mannerism, their facial expressions, what they get animated about. Ask them probing (but not embarrassing) questions about what’s going on in their life. What are their dreams? Their favorite color? Show genuine interest in their life.

Journal about the experience.
